Cristiano Ronaldo: Ronaldo poised to return to Manchester United today
Ronaldo is expected to play his first pre-season match for Manchester United this evening, against Conference club Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium. Initial reports suggested that Ronaldo, 21, would not feature in the game but he was seen boarding the team bus this morning and looks likely to play some part. If he does play, it will be his first appearance for United since his antics during Portugal's encounter with England at the World Cup, that were widely regarded to have hastened Wayne Rooney's exit from the field.
Even Sir Bobby Charlton suggested there would be repercussions following Ronaldo's gesticulations to referee Horacio Elizondo prior to Rooney's sending-off for stamping on Ricardo Carvalho.
